Questions to Consider
Why would anyone want to see the suffering Jesus went through?
This question has come up recently as people are wondering about going to see the movie,
The Passion. Before I answer that I would ask this question. Why would a spouse stay close and, in a sense,
go through the suffering of a mate who is dying of cancer? The answer is simple, because they love that person.
They don’t love suffering, but they love that person, and you will not be able to get them to leave that person's side,
no matter how hard the suffering is.
Why see the suffering that Jesus went through? Because you love Him, and because He loves you.
He did it for you.
Were you there?
That is actually the title to an old hymn….it asks a number of questions, one of which
is, “Were you there when they crucified my Lord?” If you go to see The Passion, you will probably feel like
you were actually there. You will feel what Jesus went through. You will feel the pain, the suffering, and the agony.
In a sense, the movie will take you there in a way that nothing has ever done before.
You will know why some people didn’t want to be close to Jesus at the end….it was just too
difficult to take, too hard to watch, just too much to handle.
He died for you, would you consider living for Him?
All of the pain and suffering that Jesus went through was for us. He wants us to live our
lives for Him, living out His love and grace in our world.
Standing up for Jesus
In the weeks leading up to Easter we will using this as our theme. We will be looking at
people who stood up for, and stood with, Jesus during His life. We will also be asking ourselves that question—
“Will I stand up for Jesus?”
See you in church,
Pastor Paul
